Bangkok's Iconsiam Floating Market: A Foodie's Paradise Inside a Luxury Mall

A Culinary Journey Through Iconsiam's Floating Market

Bangkok is renowned for its vibrant street food scene, and the Iconsiam Floating Market offers a unique twist – a bustling market housed within a luxurious mall. This immersive experience combines the charm of traditional Thai markets with the comfort and convenience of a modern shopping complex. Join us as we take you on a mouthwatering journey through this foodie paradise.

From Savory Soups to Exotic Meats

Our culinary adventure began with a steaming bowl of pork bone Tom Yum soup, a Thai classic reminiscent of Filipino sinigang. The sour and spicy broth, combined with tender pork, was a delightful explosion of flavors. While the spice level might be challenging for some, the rich taste is undeniably addictive.

Next, we indulged in melt-in-your-mouth pork feet with intestines and egg, served with a generous portion of rice. The tender pork, marinated in a flavorful broth, was a testament to the quality of ingredients used in Thai cuisine. For the adventurous eaters, the intestines provided a unique textural experience.

Our exploration of savory dishes continued with unique pork and salted egg dumplings, offering a subtle salty flavor that complemented the richness of the pork. We also sampled barbecued crocodile, a surprisingly tender and flavorful meat that resembled beef with a hint of fish. This exotic dish was a highlight of our culinary journey.

Refreshing Drinks and Sweet Treats

To balance the savory flavors, we enjoyed a refreshing Thai milk tea, a perfectly brewed beverage that surpassed any powdered version. For dessert, we couldn't resist the coconut milk ice cream served in a coconut shell, topped with mango and nuts. This sweet and creamy treat was the perfect way to cleanse our palates.

We also sampled a kiwi-flavored mochi, a unique take on this Japanese dessert. While not our favorite, it showcased the market's diverse culinary offerings. A crispy shrimp and calamari pancake, dipped in sweet and sour sauce, provided a delightful combination of textures and flavors.

More Than Just a Market: Exploring Iconsiam

Beyond the Floating Market, Iconsiam itself is a destination worth exploring. From high-end luxury brands to a stunning Apple store with a river view, the mall offers something for everyone. The seventh-floor terrace provides breathtaking panoramic views of the Chao Phraya River and the city skyline.

A Must-Visit Destination for Food Lovers

The Iconsiam Floating Market is a must-visit destination for any food lover visiting Bangkok. The diverse culinary offerings, combined with the unique setting within a luxury mall, create an unforgettable experience. While slightly more expensive than other markets, the quality and variety of food justify the price. Don't forget to end your feast with the classic mango sticky rice, drenched in coconut cream, for the perfect sweet ending to your culinary adventure.

Tips for Visiting Iconsiam Floating Market:

  • Come hungry! There are so many delicious options to try.
  • Be prepared for a bit of a crowd, especially during peak hours.
  • Take advantage of the opportunity to explore the rest of the Iconsiam mall.
