We arrived in Lanquín and settled into our charming accommodation, El Retiro Lodge, offering basic amenities and stunning riverside views for a budget-friendly $41 per night.

The lodge's riverside location provided a tranquil setting, complete with hammocks and a refreshing pool perfect for escaping the Guatemalan heat. Unfortunately, the following day brought heavy rainfall, preventing us from pursuing our planned river tubing adventure. However, the cozy atmosphere of the lodge's restaurant provided a welcome respite, allowing us to relax and reflect on our incredible journey.
