Unveiling Siquijor's Magic: Beaches, Waterfalls, and Hidden Gems
Siquijor: A Philippine Paradise Awaits
Siquijor, often called the "Island of Fire," is a hidden gem nestled in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines. While it may lack an airport, the journey to Siquijor adds to its mystique. Whether you fly to Dumaguete or Tagbilaran on nearby islands, the ferry ride offers stunning views and sets the stage for an unforgettable adventure.
Getting Around and Where to Stay
Renting a scooter is the best way to explore Siquijor. For around 300 pesos a day, you'll have the freedom to discover the island's hidden corners at your own pace. While a few days might allow you to see the main sights, we recommend staying for at least a week to truly soak in the island’s magic. We stayed at Jungle Kingdom and highly recommend it. They have unique dome accommodations and a relaxed atmosphere. It was the best accommodation we had in Southeast Asia.
Beach Bliss: Siquijor's Coastal Wonders
Siquijor boasts a collection of breathtaking beaches, each with its own unique charm. Paliton Beach, while popular, offers stunning white sand and crystal-clear waters. For a more secluded experience, venture off the beaten path to discover hidden coves and untouched stretches of shoreline, like the secret beach we stumbled upon, a true paradise for those seeking tranquility.
Chasing Waterfalls and Jungle Magic
Beyond the beaches, Siquijor's interior is a wonderland of lush jungles and cascading waterfalls. Visit the Cambugahay Falls and Lugnason Falls, but don't miss the hidden waterfall accessed through a local cafe. For a small fee, the owner will guide you to this secluded gem, where you can swim, swing on a rope, and even encounter a local magician!
Local Experiences and Culinary Delights
Siquijor offers a unique blend of Filipino culture and international influences. Connect with friendly locals, enjoy delicious food at affordable prices, and experience the vibrant nightlife.
