Island Hopping & Diving in Thailand: Koh Tao & Koh Nang Yuan Paradise
Island Bliss: Koh Samui to Koh Nang Yuan
Our Thai adventure begins on the vibrant island of Koh Samui, a haven of relaxation and delicious food. After a few days unwinding at the beachfront 79 Beach Club and Resort, it was time for something new. We embarked on a scenic ferry journey to Koh Nang Yuan, a cluster of three islands connected by mesmerizing sandbars.
The Lomprayah Ferry provided a smooth and comfortable ride, making the transfer between islands a breeze. Remember to check your baggage weight, as there's a 20kg limit. Upon arrival at Koh Nang Yuan, the breathtaking beauty of the islands immediately captivated us. It was like stepping into a postcard, a true island fantasy.
Koh Nang Yuan: A Hidden Gem
The unique charm of Koh Nang Yuan lies in its exclusivity. After 3 PM, the day-trippers depart, leaving the island to a fortunate few who have booked accommodations. The tranquility and serenity that envelop the island in the late afternoon are simply magical. Imagine having this pristine paradise practically to yourself – a truly unforgettable experience.
The accommodations on Koh Nang Yuan are rustic yet comfortable, perfectly complementing the natural beauty of the surroundings. The Beach Bar offers a delightful menu with fresh seafood and delicious Thai dishes, ensuring a satisfying culinary experience. Watching the sunset over the ocean from this idyllic spot is a memory to cherish.
Koh Tao: A Diver's Paradise
Next, we ventured to Koh Tao, an island renowned for its world-class diving. Koh Tao is a mecca for diving enthusiasts, and for good reason. The crystal-clear waters teem with vibrant marine life, making it an underwater playground.
We chose Duck and Dive for our PADI certification, a highly reputable dive school with professional and well-organized instructors. They provided an excellent learning experience, ensuring we felt safe and confident throughout our dives.
Koh Tao Hillside Resort: A Perfect Base
Our stay at Koh Tao Hillside Resort was exceptional. Perched high on the hills, the resort offers panoramic ocean views and spacious, airy rooms that blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings. The friendly staff and comfortable amenities made our stay truly enjoyable.
The sunsets from the resort were spectacular, painting the sky with vibrant hues each evening. It's the perfect spot to unwind after a day of diving and soak in the island's beauty.
The PADI Certification Experience
Getting PADI certified was an incredible experience. The combination of e-learning and in-water training provided a comprehensive understanding of diving principles and techniques. While the open water certification is sufficient for many, we highly recommend pursuing the advanced open water certification as well.
The advanced certification builds upon the open water skills, allowing for greater confidence and relaxation during dives. Each dive brought new discoveries and a deeper appreciation for the underwater world.
Beyond Diving: Exploring Koh Tao
Koh Tao offers more than just diving. The vibrant walking street is lined with bars, clubs, shops, and beachfront restaurants where you can enjoy delicious Thai cuisine and refreshing cocktails. Sairee Cottage is a personal favorite, with its charming ambiance, delicious food, and stunning sunset views.
Whether you're seeking adventure or relaxation, Koh Tao has something for everyone. It's a place where you can connect with nature, embrace the island lifestyle, and create unforgettable memories.

Our island-hopping adventure in Thailand was a dream come true. From the tranquil beauty of Koh Nang Yuan to the vibrant underwater world of Koh Tao, these islands offer a unique and unforgettable experience. If you're seeking an escape to paradise, look no further than Koh Tao and Koh Nang Yuan.
